ASD Market Week 2016 just wrapped up in Las Vegas, NV, and this is our 3rd time exhibiting – we had a blast, and we can definitely say we’ll be exhibiting next year as well.
What is ASD Market Week Winter?
ASD Market Week 2016 is an all-inclusive B2B trade show located in Las Vegas, NV that gathers the world’s most expansive and versatile retail merchandise in one exciting marketplace. Our product, SkuVault, is geared primarily toward eCommerce merchants, so for us it’s a great opportunity to meet up with current and prospective clients at all stages of the retail chain.
The Show
Last week I was lucky enough to attend the ASD Show in Las Vegas. This is a buyer's show so it attracts a different group of people than those we run into at other conferences, others tend to be more education-centric, this one is all about the deals - BUYING, sourcing, and getting the goods! Over the years ASD has been rebranded, and the letters now stand for: Affordable Shopping Destination. The show is for resellers, and you must be a business to attend.
During the day I was so busy attending various training sessions, meeting with clients, speaking to partners, and walking, walking, walking. So much walking. That place is HUGE, and every time I had a meeting I'd have to walk a few more miles, or at least it felt like it! I did a great job of getting over 12K steps every day I was there. As usual, I met up with the “Jeffs” from Zeckos (always great seeing you guys, hope you had a great show!). Talked for a while with the group from M & A Collectibles (great people!), and met Dan from iBuyz for the first time! I met with several other clients as well (it was a pleasure meeting you all!).
Education
During the course of the ASD show there are educational sessions. I attended several of these sessions, and was delighted to hear various speakers: John Lawson (@ColderIce) covered Facebook Marketing, Danni Ackerman (@theDanniApp) covered the power of eBay. Our own Danny Shaw of SkuVault fame gave a presentation on purchasing strategies, woohoo DANNY!!!
One very informative session was a “meet the experts” with Kat Simpson (@ThatKatSimpson), John Lawson, Fred Neff of IMA merchants, and Robin Johnson (@bestfromthenest). They were full of helpful tips to newer, and not-so-new sellers. It was also very awesome that they dropped the SkuVault name while they were talking, and sent some folks to our booth to chat with us about our service! Thanks Fred, and John! You all ROCK!
When in Vegas
Since we were in Vegas there were great dinners. Buffet at Wynn, such a spread! WOW! Then the buffet at Caesar's Bacchanal, this was attended by a group of 18, and we all had a great time. I went to a wonderful networking party where I ran into some old friends (shout out to Cyn, Darol, Ruth, and Jo!). A few of us hit the slot machines one night, no real winners, but we sure had fun!
ASD is one of our favorite trade shows. We get to see old friends, make new contacts, see what’s “up and coming” in sales, and please our palates with delicious food. Needless to say, you can expect SkuVault to be a regular attendee of the ASD MarketWeek Tradeshow for years to come.
